Rock Path

La via delle Rocce 2

Via delle Rocce is a linear excursion starting from the main square of Antonimina. From here we will walk the streets of the town, heading towards the wrinkle called “tail“, and then continue on an ancient path that climbs through terraces and old ruins that testify to the ancient nature suited to sheep farming and agriculture in the area. On the left we will have the ridge that from Tre Pizzi climbs up to the Moleti plains, at the foot of this mountain the stream Cortaglia winds its way.

After passing the “Russian timpa” and the “Vaduni Fundu” after about one kilometer of this beautiful path, we will reach a dirt track, which will lead us to the majestic and fragile Rocca di Ciliberto.

After the fortress we will reach a fountain, in the “acqui friddi” area, where we will make a short stop and it will be possible to refuel with water.

Resuming the route we will pass by the “Rocca i Natali” and then by the Rocca dell’Addrizzo, and then continue until we reach the beautiful “Rocca pizzuta“. Here we will take a small tour to discover the ravines carved into the rock by atmospheric agents and used as shelter by shepherds and brigands.

Finally, the Rocca della Scala, from where we will enjoy an excellent view of Rocca San Mauro and the Antonimina valley.

From here will follow a downhill stretch that will take us to the written stone. Legend has it that this rock was engraved by a brigand, and is located in the locality “spilinga” (cave in Grecanico).

Our excursion will end here.
